Apply to be a REACT Fellow (PhD students and Postdocs)

Applications are currently being accepted for the fourth cohort of REACT trainees. Funding for the new cohort will start January 2019.

Eligibility:  We invite Penn and Alabama State graduate students and Penn postdocs to apply.

Due to funding agency restrictions, trainees need to be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.

Applicants are encouraged to discuss their application with a Penn- or Alabama State-based REACT faculty member in their department or research discipline. Applicants who have discussed this opportunity with REACT faculty and have the support of a REACT faculty member will be considered to be stronger applicants.

Deadline: All materials must be received by 6 pm, November 2, 2018 (Philadelphia time).

Application Components: PhD students and postdocs should submit the following items to be considered.

  • Completed Application Form
  • CV (3-page maximum)
  • Statement (2-page maximum): Provide a brief summary of your current research, broader research interests and how they are relevant to the REACT project. Also discuss your motivation for seeking international research experience and for working with international partners.
  • Letter of support from a REACT investigator (emailed directly from the faculty member to the react@seas.upenn.edu).
  • Modifications for first-year PhD student applicants: a) You do not need to summarize current research, b) you do need to provide a SECOND letter of support from a faculty member from any institution (when possible, this faculty member would address any research experience you have in the support letter)

The CV, statement and letter(s) should be directed to react@seas.upenn.edu. Please put your “Last name, First name and [PhD or Postdoc] Application” in the subject line.

Questions can be directed to REACT at the above email.
